Dream of a 32 year old woman:
I was coming to the rescue of some kids who were being burned by a curling iron…..I rushed over and grabbed the curling iron by the hot rod and it burned into the skin of my hand, sticking sickeningly to the skin of the hand.
I awoke with a tingling sensation in the ring and pinky fingers of one of my hands. The numbness and tingling stayed in the hand even after waking for the day. It then began to spread and eventually across my torso and into the other hand and then down into my hips.
At the hospital I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
These has four elements that are typical of dreams that are prognostic of medical conditions:
- It is nightmarish.
- There is a reference to the body.
- There is a textural/somatic aspect to it (“stuck sickeningly to my skin”)
- Some kind of burning/inflammation is involved.
